SOCIAL STUDIES : Jeffertitti Moon // Musician + Artist

I've know Jeffertitti for so long now, I actually can't even remember how we met.  I think it was through the music and art scene in Echo Park... But however it happened, this person's presence has never left my orbit.  He has been a center part of culture creation in LA, be it playing shows, collaborating with other artists, modeling for GUCCI - whatever... He's been doing it and helping to curate the unique voice LA is starting to shine with.  Watching him play, you are thrown into a magic world and forget about where you are actually standing.  His music takes you away as all good music should.  Kindness and openness are laced within the talents of art and sound.  Not to mention, he has one of the best morning routines I've heard of in a long time.  Almost better than mine.  Here he tells us some deep parts of what makes him, him.

Who are you?
Jeffertitti Moon, musician... Reconfigured particles of star dust having another magical chance at existence.

Why do you make your work?
It's an uncontrollable urge, I can't sleep at night when I don't create enough.  I guess I was touched by music as a child and I've been trying to pay it forward/back ever since.  I want to help people feel the same way I do when I'm singing along to a record and burst into tears.

What do you believe in?
Constant evolution & some kind of magic that is holding everything together.

Name one thing you say yes to?
Instincts
And one thing you say no to?
Cocaine

What change would you like to see?
In order to keep sane, I usually wind up subconsciously ignoring the most atrocious parts of our human existence.  But when you actually stop to think about things like privatized prisons, institutionalized racism, wars waged for monetary gains, rape or human torture... it's hard to truly fathom.  I'd like to believe we are slowly waking up from our anesthetized patriarchal slumber.  Another golden age is coming, if you want it.

Name one thing that makes you happy?
Swimming naked in the ocean

How would you describe your personal routine ?
When I'm actually in town & at home... I love to wake up with a light stretch, spray some rose water on my face & rinse my mouth out.  I'll drink a turmeric, cayenne, apple cider vinegar infused water.  Make some veggie juice, a smoothie and water my garden, all while the coffee is brewing in the french press.  Do a little yoga, dance around, listen to records, take a shower & start my day!  Hopefully this is all before checking my phone ;)
Working on music, seeing friends, making art, DJing, getting out in the sunshine.  Depends on where the day takes me and what's in the calendar.

What did you want to be as a child?
I always secretly wanted to score horror films

Can you remember one solid piece of advice you've gotten for the growth of your work ?
One time I was nervous before doing a show in Big Sur & a friend told me that even if I sang or played wrong notes, they would be perfectly unique for the authentic moment & actually make it even more special.  I think just being real with yourself & celebrating who we really are is where the magic lies.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
I just met Florence Welch & was captivated by her soft encompassing energy.
Would love to challenge myself to create with such a delicate creature without taking away from the beauty of her work.

Who is one person in culture that you feel is making positive and inspiring change ?
I've never experienced someone first hand with more manifestation power than Alessandro Michele.
Witnessing his extravagant universe first hand almost transports me to another land where everything is beyond beautiful, floating & free.
I have endless respect for the way he harnesses his resources to create, manifest & plant positive seeds of forward thinking in the minds of the masses.
