For our July installment of our monthly curated playlist series, we bring you REFRACTIONS - listen HERE
- What do you call your playlist ?
My name is Alima Lee, I'm an artist, filmmaker and DJ from NYC living in Los Angeles. My moods have been very all over the place as of yet. It feels like I'm in a constant state of mourning, but I often try to dissociate from reality leaving me feeling either like a void or experiencing sensations of joy and happiness. Every day is different, every day is a struggle but I feel grateful to be here and to share my work with those who want to receive it.
- If your playlist was one NOTO product, which one would It be and why?
Deep Serum: It permeates the surface and seeps deep inside.
- If you could describe your playlist in one word, what would It be?
spiral
- What was your inspiration behind your selection?
I think I based my selections on a typical day in my life. I usually wake up with anxiety so I like to start off by meditating and listening to Alice Coltrane and other ambient works. By mid-day my energy is high so I like to listen to house/club/drum & bass. By the evening my mind is so scattered after working on a million different things, or I'm angry about all of the injustices I observe on social media and trying to blow off steam so I represented that with experimental tracks by Klein and 700 Bliss.
- If your playlist was a color what would It be?
ultra violet
